The tourism sector has been hampered by the impact of the Coronavirus. Though everyone believes that there are persons seeking jobs, the sector still struggles. Many persons seeking employment in the sector go to job fairs, but many candidates show up and are not chosen. Often candidates are not chosen because they lack job readiness skills.
Facilitated by the Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI) a Division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund, in collaboration with our local and international partners, we are collaborating to help.
HEART NSTA Trust has developed a Job Readiness programme specifically for new entrants to the tourism sector. Successful candidates will receive an NCTVET Certificate.
The training is aimed at providing candidates the employability skills needed to enter the industry. The programme will include the following units:
- Develop and update hospitality industry knowledge
- Provide effective hospitality service to customers
- Work with colleagues and customers
- Develop and maintain professionalism
- Operate in a culturally diverse work environment
- Comply with health, safety and security procedures
- Deliver quality customer service
This customer service gold certification provides hospitality professionals with the confidence to engage and connect with guests to find out their needs and provide memorable service. The programme is designed to motivate and inspire hotel employees.
This course is offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI). Successful candidates will earn an internationally recognized certificate.
