Global Toronto 2023 (GT23)
Applications must be submitted by 11.59pm EST on Friday, December 9.

GT is rooted in building a music sector that puts the interests of equity-deserving communities** at the fore, and to showcasing Canada’s musical diversity. Artists chosen by the GT23 Jury of music professionals will be reflective of this mission.
GT23 is the ideal platform for Canadian artists to be seen by the world. GT22 drew over 300 people from 16 countries together for in-person activities designed to build and strengthen connections, and centre the human experience of the music sector, leading to opportunities for all. We expect GT23 to attract similar numbers of presenters, festivals, bookers, artists, and other music professionals.
ELIGIBILITY
We encourage applications from CANADIAN artists who:
– are amazing;
– employ diverse artistic/musical aesthetics, traditions, expressions, and approaches;
– explore/expand the boundaries of genre;
– identify as part of an equity-deserving community**;
– are ready for the international stage;
– are Canadian;
– have not been showcased at previous GTs with current work OR at GT22, to make space for other artists
SELECTION PROCESS
The GT23 Jury is tasked with selecting a short-list of amazing, diverse Canadian artists who are ready for international touring and presence. Ultimately, this is a subjective process, but it happens in a collaborative environment, when Jury members gather to discuss their choices. By then, they will have spent several weeks with the long-list and three guiding factors in mind:
Artistic Excellence: Quality, originality, presence, songwriting, performance, musicality
Market Readiness: History of releases/performance/touring, a team/capacity (or a strong DIY effort), the ‘package’ (web presence, quality of materials)
Equity: Representative of equity-deserving communities**, marginalised populations, under-represented styles/formats/instruments
Jury-selected Artists must be available to attend GT23, and will receive a modest honorarium to cover performance and production fees. All applicants will be eligible for a free GT23 pass, subject to capacity.
Applications must be submitted by 11.59pm EST on Friday, December 9.
Notifications will occur before March, 2023.
Note:
There is a CA$20 application fee, payable by PayPal or credit card, via PayPal.
Many of the questions are mandatory (marked with a red *), so ensure you have all relevant info before you start the application.
All applicants will be eligible for a free GT23 pass (subject to capacity).

Note: If you receive an error message when using a Promo Code, try clicking “Submit” again, as the error gremlins tend to give up quickly. If problems persist, send an email to: info@globaltoronto.org
We’ve been having some processing/payment issues and seem to have addressed them with this new link; apologies for those who have met those gremlins
We recommend copying out the questions and your answers on a separate document because those error gremlins have a habit of messing with the process.
